A new campaign has launched in Jersey to provide frontline healthcare professionals with a home delivered meal.
Within 24 hours, islanders donated more than £4,000 to buy delivery food for those working on the frontline against the coronavirus pandemic. The meal can be either for the healthcare workers themselves or their families.
Supported by the Jersey Hospitality Association (JHA), #FeedOurFrontline is being piloted in Jersey but hopes to be launched in the UK and eventually worldwide.
The initiative will not only benefit frontline workers but also gives the local economy outside of the finance industry a chance to stay operational, according to the JHA.
‘During this period of uncertainty, it’s now more important than ever that we rally round together and support one another. It’s fantastic to be collaborating with several other local businesses to support our healthcare professionals on the #FeedOurFrontline campaign,’ said JHA CEO Simon Soar.
‘It’s a way to demonstrate the island’s gratitude for their dedication to duty, whilst also giving back to local hospitality businesses at the same time. We hope islanders will take this opportunity to show their community spirit, dig deep and make donations as a way of saying thank you to those working on the frontline.’
Vouchers bought by islanders’ donations will be distributed to key workers to use on the new online store app Fetch.je, which has temporarily dropped its sign-up fees for partners and will not charge commission on orders for the time being.
