EVie has announced the trial of the all electric XEV YoYo vehicle, the first in Jersey.
The YoYo is currently located at Liberation Station, and will initially operate on EVie’s A-A service, which is pick up and drop off at the same location. The trial is aimed at gathering real-world data and essential user feedback with the hope of becoming the vehicle of choice for EVie’s ABC Service, launching later this year. This service will allow users to pick up and drop off at a number of designated locations across the island, affording much greater convenience and flexibility.
“We are incredibly excited to hear what EVie users think of the car and look forward to using the data to build a robust, user-friendly, and most importantly, cost-effective service for islanders and visitors alike,” said Nick Perchard-Rees, CEO of EVie. “Our goal is to create a service that not only meets the needs of our users but also contributes to a healthier and more sustainable environment. The ABC service is designed to reduce congestion, lower emissions, and make our roads safer and more enjoyable for everyone.”
EVie is working with strategic partners and engaging with Government departments to create a mixture of hubs and micro sites, ensuring a wide distribution of convenient locations across the island.
Nick Perchard-Rees continued: “The XEV YoYo is perfect for our beautiful island, featuring a 90-mile range, a top speed of 45mph, and has swappable batteries, allowing our trained operatives to extend its reach to areas currently without the necessary charging infrastructure. It even has electric windows, a luxury not often found on micro vehicles, it really is a great little car!
“We believe that the feedback from our users is invaluable,” added Nick Perchard-Rees. “While we are gathering data on the car, we’re also keen to hear from users about suitable future locations. We’ve got a big list, but we are always looking for new ideas.”
