Diwali Celebration 2026
The Indian Community in Guernsey is inviting islanders from across the Bailiwick to come together and celebrate Diwali – the Festival of Lights – on Saturday, 31 October 2026, at The Manor Hotel, Guernsey.
The celebration will begin at 7.00 pm and will bring together members of Guernsey’s Indian community, their families and friends, as well as people from across the island who would like to experience and share in one of the most important festivals celebrated by Indian communities around the world.
Diwali has deep religious and cultural significance for millions of people. While traditions vary between different communities and faiths, the festival is broadly associated with the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil and hope over despair. It is also a time for families and friends to come together, reflect on the year gone by and look forward to the year ahead with optimism.
For the Indian Community in Guernsey, however, Diwali is also an opportunity to open those traditions to the wider island community.
The ICG Committee would like to add: “Diwali is deeply meaningful to us as a religious and cultural celebration, but it is also a wonderful opportunity to share our traditions with the wider community in Guernsey.
“We want this to be a celebration for everyone. Guernsey is a diverse and welcoming community, and occasions such as Diwali give us an opportunity to learn about one another, enjoy each other’s company and celebrate what we have in common.
“The message of Diwali – light, hope, harmony and the triumph of good – is something that can resonate with all of us, whatever our background or beliefs.
“We would therefore be delighted to welcome people from across Guernsey to join us. You don’t need to be part of the Indian community to celebrate Diwali with us – everyone is invited.”
The evening will provide an opportunity for guests to experience aspects of Indian culture and Diwali traditions in a relaxed and welcoming setting, while enjoying an evening of community, friendship and celebration.
The event is inclusive and family-friendly, welcoming people of all backgrounds and faiths. Guests will be able to come together, meet members of the Indian community and share in the spirit of the festival.
Tickets are £25 for adults and guests aged 12 and over. Children under the age of 12 can attend free of charge.
