Sanctuary Trust marks World Homeless Day
Sanctuary Trust will mark World Homeless Day, which falls annually on 10th October, with a community awareness stand at Charing Cross, St Helier, on Friday 9th October 2026 from 11am to 3pm.
The event aims to raise awareness of homelessness in Jersey and give islanders the chance to learn more about the work of Sanctuary Trust, a local charity that provides accommodation and tailored support to help men experiencing homelessness in Jersey rebuild their lives.
Members of the public are warmly invited to drop by to chat with the team, pick up information and find out how they can support the charity’s work. Islanders will also be able to sign up for the 2026 Sleep Out, Sanctuary Trust’s flagship fundraising event, taking place on Friday 13th November at Pier Road Car Park.
Abby Harris-Peters, Fundraising and Communications Lead at Sanctuary Trust, said: “World Homeless Day is an important opportunity to learn more about the realities of homelessness in Jersey, which is often hidden from view. During the first quarter of 2026 alone, 287 people received help from Jersey’s homelessness services, highlighting the ongoing need for support and awareness.
“We’d love to welcome members of the public to our stand at Charing Cross to find out more about Sanctuary Trust’s work, the difference community support makes, and how you can get involved in this year’s Sleep Out.”
Candice Tabb, Chief People Officer at Skipton International, proud sponsors of the 2026 Sleep Out, said: “As a local mortgage provider, we see every day how much a safe and secure home matters. World Homeless Day is an important opportunity to raise awareness of the realities facing people in Jersey who do not have that security. We hope islanders will visit Sanctuary Trust’s stand to learn more about its work and consider joining us at the Sleep Out in November to help raise vital funds.”
