Catrin Finch & Aoife Ní Bhriain
Welsh harpist Catrin Finch and Irish fiddler Aoife Ní Bhriain – two of the most gifted and versatile musicians of their generation – bring their acclaimed collaboration to the Jersey Opera House this November.
The duo’s debut album Double You, released on the bendigedig label, has been praised for its ‘innate synergy’ and ‘moment of musical majesty’, blending classical virtuosity with Welsh and Irish traditional roots. Featuring original compositions inspired by landscapes, heritage, bees’ flight patterns and shared creative journeys, their music moves freely across genres while showcasing extraordinary technical skill and emotional range.
Catrin and Aoife first met during a digital edition of Other Voices Aberteifi, instantly discovering a rare musical connection. Both classically trained from a young age, they have forged paths that embrace curiosity, tradition and artistic freedom. Their live performances reflect this spirit—rich, expressive and deeply moving.
Audiences can expect a spellbinding evening featuring music from Double You, with Catrin on harp and Aoife on fiddle and Hardanger fiddle. The album’s nine tracks – including Whispers, Wonder, Waves, and Woven – explore themes of identity, resilience and creative partnership, each beginning with the letter ‘W’ to reflect their shared parallels and connection across the Irish Sea.
