The Jersey TechAwards are back virtually on Friday 5th February and bigger than ever with 13 categories and 107 entries – the highest number yet.
A panel of nine judges has assessed a record number of nominations to determine the winners of this year’s Jersey TechAwards.
There have been some incredibly close scores this year, resulting in a shortlist of 4 for some of the awards, which are: Best use of Technology in Finance, Technology Project of the Year, Digital Company of the Year and the Digital Start-up of the Year categories.
Channel Eye, which launched just five months ago in September 2020, has been shortlisted for the ‘Best digital startup’ award.
Channel Eye is an online publication, with a daily newsletter and website. It focuses on business and lifestyle news across the Channel Islands, bringing you the latest news and thought provoking, informative content.
Managing Director, Tim Bullock, said: “It’s a great privilege to be shortlisted, given the impressive startup businesses that Jersey has produced. Since its launch, our readership and followers continue to grow fast. We are fortunate to be collaborating with writers who really know their subject area.
“We have a great team and being shortlisted is a great boost for everyone involved. We are working on some very exciting subjects that haven’t been tackled before in the Channel Islands. Watch this space!”

The judging panel includes: Dave Cartwright, senior cyber security consultant at Grant Thornton; Nicole Maltwood of Eagle Labs and Women In Tech; Rob Felton, management consultant at Mason Breese, Rod Bryans, creative consultant at Greytribe and former education minister, Stephanie Peat, the Government of Jersey’s director of digital and telecoms policy; Jason Laity, Jersey Finance Chairman, Tony Moretta, CEO of Digital Jersey; Susana Rowles, managing director of Innovate Education; and Leonie McCrann, CEO Marbral Advisory.
Dave Cartwright, Chair of the judges said: “I was surprised and delighted that despite all the impediments that have been put in everyone’s way by Covid-19, we were still able to elicit more entries than ever before – including over 20 nominations for our new Lockdown Technology category. As always I’m hugely grateful to my colleagues on the judging panel for giving their time so generously, and although it was perhaps inevitable that we wouldn’t be able to hold our gala presentation evening this year, I’m hopeful that normal service can be resumed next time around”.
Tony Moretta, CEO of Digital Jersey said: “It’s hard to find a silver lining in Covid but the entries for TechAwards this year are a clear demonstration of the way the digital sector and in fact all economic sectors in Jersey innovated in 2020 to not only keep their businesses going but grow them and even create new opportunities.”
The Jersey TechAwards sponsored by Prosperity 24/7 and in collaboration with BCS Jersey, will take place on Friday 5th February and will be the first virtual awards.
