Babbé LLP is renewing its sponsorship with the Guernsey Raiders. The firm has supported rugby in the island for over 12 years and has been the principle gold sponsor of the Guernsey Raiders men’s and ladies first XV rugby teams for eight years.
The Guernsey Raiders had a successful 2019/20 season although it had to be cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Guernsey Raiders first XV were positioned top of the London and SE Premier League when play was ceased. The RFU Competition panel had to use a mathematical formula to implement a fair system to judge the final placings.
Having won every game during the season the Guernsey Raiders first XV have been promoted back to National Two South league for 2020/21 which is, the fourth tier of English Rugby and the highest level that the team has ever played.
Chris Gnapp, Sponsorship Director of Guernsey Raiders said: “Babbé has been an incredible supporter of Guernsey Rugby for a number of years and have been the principal sponsor of the Raiders for the past eight years. Over that time, we at the club have built up a great relationship with the team at Babbé and continue to hugely appreciate their support, not only in terms of sponsorship but also the support they offer our playing teams. With our men’s side moving up to National Two again this season the support that Babbé give us takes on even more significance and we look forward to working with them closely as we move forward.”
Managing Partner at Babbé, Andrew Laws, said: “We are very proud to continue our support of both the Guernsey Raiders men’s and women’s first XV teams. Babbé is passionate about rugby and believes local investment is key to continue the growth and development of the sport on island. After what has been an unusual season the Raiders played very well, and the men’s team received a well-deserved promotion. We look forward to the Raiders being back on the pitch”.
