Eat Jersey Food Festival 2019 has announced the lots for this year’s silent auction in aid of Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, the festival’s chosen philanthropic partner. Taking place from Friday 22 to Saturday 23 March 2019 at The Atlantic Hotel, Jersey, this celebratory weekend will raise valuable funds in aid of the organisation’s work.
Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust is an international charity working to save species from extinction. Headquartered at Jersey Zoo, Durrell focuses on the most threatened species in the most threatened places. Established by author and conservationist, Gerald Durrell, in 1959, Durrell’s overall aim is for more diverse, beautiful and resilient natural landscapes in which species can thrive and people can enjoy a deeper connection with nature. Its approach concentrates on the rewilding of animals, the rewilding of ecosystems and the rewilding of people.
To date Eat Jersey has raised £13,500 in aid of Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust. Patrick Burke, owner and MD of The Atlantic Hotel, said: “We are delighted to once again be able to support the valuable conservation efforts of Durrell this year. The online auction at Eat Jersey has proven to be a popular aspect of the weekend, showcasing some incredible money-can’t-buy prizes kindly donated by partners and friends of The Atlantic. We always make a point of taking the visiting chefs on a behind the scenes tour at Durrell during their visit so that they can see the amazing work of the charity for themselves which I know they greatly appreciate.”
