Having started planning a little later in the season that we would have liked, the EDABL committee are delighted with their first 2 seafront Sunday events and want to thank all the Eat Drink and be Local stallholders that have given such great support to these special days.
The variety of exhibitors has provided so many different stalls that have enhanced the event and given the tourist and local visitors so much to see and sample.
The committee tweaked the layout on the pier of its second event and as it was such a success, will be improving on the set up even further for the next event on Sunday 18 August.
One of the committee’s biggest aims with these events is to get our visitors to ‘linger longer’ and view the Sundays as an event that they can spend the day at as groups, couples or families.
To achieve this aim, they have enhanced the seating, entertainment, theatre and ultimately the activities.
The next seafront Sunday will see a full schedule of musical entertainment throughout the day, and a zoning arrangement in place for the food stalls, to give a theme to how the pier is laid out, with extra seating in each area for people to enjoy the activities and wide variety of international food available.
With two more Seafront Sundays planned before the week-long food festival takes place in September, planning has already started for the 7 day celebration of local food and gourmet experiences that Guernsey has to offer.
In the coming weeks, the committee will be releasing details of the events that will take place throughout food festival week and information about the incredible foodie competitions, activities and demonstrations that will take place on Crown pier on Food Fest weekend the 28 and 29 September.
EDABL Guernsey is all about giving local artisan food and beverage producers the opportunity to bring their product to market, so in addition to the above we will also be offering the opportunity to someone who has a local product, which has not yet been bought to market, the opportunity to take a stand at the food festival weekend for FREE!
Make sure you keep an eye on the Eat Drink and Be Local Facebook page, and read Travel Eye CI each week, to make sure you do not miss any of the announcements and launches.
See you on Crown Pier on the 18th for a fabulous day out.
