The Channel Islands’ only locally-owned Loss Adjusters is celebrating, after realising two significant milestones in its 15 year history. Channel Islands Adjusters Finance Director, Julie-anne Headington, has become an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a Chartered Insurance Practitioner, meaning she is now ‘double chartered’ having previously qualified as a Chartered Loss Adjuster. She joins her husband and business partner, Richard Headington, as the only two Loss Adjusters in the Channel Islands to hold this ‘double chartered’ status. |
Julie-anne is also a Fellow Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians and a Fellow of the International Federation of Adjusting Associations. She sits on the Council of the Insurance Institute of Guernsey and was named as a finalist in the UK’s 2018 Women in Finance ‘Rising Star of the Year’ award. The news comes as the company celebrates handling its 10,000th case; a significant achievement in its history. Channel Island Adjusters was established by Richard and Julie- anne Headington in 2004 and marked its 15 year anniversary last month. Its reach covers all of the Channel Islands, with current live cases across Guernsey, Jersey, Alderney, Herm and Sark. In the last few weeks alone, the company has been appointed on cases with a total potential cost of over £1 million. Julie-anne says, “I am exceptionally proud to become one of only two Loss Adjusters in theChannel Islands to have achieved this ‘double chartered’ status. We are passionate aboutachieving the highest professional and technical standards in our industry here at Channel Islands Adjusters, and this qualification forms part of that commitment and dedication.” Chartered Loss Adjusters are the recognised industry experts in the handling of insurance claims. Their role is to provide support and guidance in the event of an insurance claim and, in order to do so, they need expert knowledge and skills, along with a full understanding of the insurance industry. |
Hot on Julie-anne’s heels are the remainder of the company’s Loss Adjusting team, who will soon achieve Chartered Adjuster status. Both Josh Smith and Aaron Slattery have passedtheir final exams and, by the end of this year both will have recorded five years’ experience, meaning they will also be ‘time qualified’. Julie-anne says, ‘Aaron and Josh represent the future of the industry here in the Channel Islands. Their commitment and dedication means that the islands will benefit from locally- grown Loss Adjusters leading the industry for the next 40 years or more.” The team isn’t stopping there, however. Julie-anne, Josh and Aaron are all planning to take the British Damage Management Association’s Insurance Technician qualification later this year, further adding to their portfolio of complementary skills. |
