Islanders in their 50s, or who are turning 50 this year, are being invited to join Les Amis in celebrating as the charity reaches its first half century.
Les Amis is launching a series of events, fundraisers and celebrations in 2025 to mark 50 years of empowering people with learning disabilities, including the campaign to celebrate people who turn 50 this year and are doing something Fantastic in Your 50s.
Shaun Findlay, Managing Director of Les Amis said: “If you are looking to tick something off your bucket list or are doing something big or challenging, we want to celebrate with you. Being in your 50s is fantastic and there are so many of us it would be great to link that with our own celebration at Les Amis. So let us know if you are and we’ll promote it. Along with our 50th theme this year, we want to thank islanders for their support and mark the special contributions that so many have made since we opened in 1975.”
Jersey Dairy and the CI Coop have launched a competition to name and create an ice cream flavour. It could be weird and whacky flavour or someone’s dream ice cream. Proceeds from the limited edition ice cream will go to Les Amis. And after a break last year, the popular Les Amis Raffle returns with ticket prices reduced to £25 due to the cost of living. The charity is working with local businesses to provide some epic prizes and details will be announced in the coming weeks.
A special thank you celebration is due to be held in the summer, and the charity is searching for those who have helped and supported Les Amis over its 50 years and will invite them to the Vin d’Honneur at Government House.
Paul Routier MBE, Chair of Les Amis Limited and Trustee, added: “Throughout my long association with Les Amis I have been amazed and humbled by the love and support that so many have shown to the charity. We want to say thank you to them because they are the ones that have made Les Amis what it is today. We don’t want to miss anyone out so please get in touch with us so that we can involve you in our celebrations.”
