Women in Public Life has created an Information Hub to help Vale parishioners find out about the candidates standing in the August by-election for Douzenier.
The election will take place on Wednesday 18th August and the polling station is at the Vale Douzaine Room from 10am to 8pm.
The candidates are Anne Setters, Mary Lowe and Nigel Leale.
Shelaine Green, Chair of Women in Public Life, said: “Instead of waiting for candidates to knock on the door, everyone in the Vale can use our Information Hub to look through candidate leaflets online. Voters can also use it to find out more about the role of a Douzenier and how the parish election process works.
“We’re hugely enthusiastic about the potential of our Douzaines and keen to see more people standing, especially women as they are significantly under-represented. An obvious first step is to make sure everyone knows about elections when they happen and has the information they need to take part, hence our Information Hub. An official election notice in the Gazette Officielle simply isn’t enough in today’s modern world”.
