Digital Jersey’s Mentoring Programme has re-launched to help more islanders forge, and thrive in, a career in the Island’s digital industry.
The scheme is now open to school leavers (18+), graduates, experienced professionals looking to develop or change their career, and entrepreneurs, all of whom will have access to a team of mentors offering their time for free.
Aaron Chatterley, Co-Founder of Feelunique.com; Tom Hacquoil, Founder of Pinpoint; Jacqui Lees, Continuous Innovation Manager at the Government of Jersey’s Modernisation and Digital Department and Mel Pardoe, Head of Governance at BDO are amongst those who will be sharing their skills and experiences and helping islanders build their professional networks.
Hayley Routier, Digital Jersey’s Member and Stakeholder Engagement Manager said: “The Digital Jersey Mentor Programme is easily accessible to anyone in Jersey wishing to seek support from an experienced and trusted digital mentor.
“We are well-placed to match mentees with mentors in our vast network, which is comprised of individuals working for our members, partners, and the broader digital community. Being mentored at any stage of your career can be a life-changing experience, resulting in enhanced skills, an enriched career, and expanded digital network.
“Mentors also benefit greatly by investing their time in others and will gain personal satisfaction from providing support and sharing their experiences.”
Digital Jersey have matched over 20 mentees with mentors so far this year and are now looking to expand their pool of digital mentors. Mentors can choose how many individuals they wish to support per year, and also the type of mentee they wish to support.
Mentees that have been matched have included school leavers seeking careers in coding and IT, a computer science graduate, experienced data analytics and web development professionals requiring career advancement support, an e-commerce business owner, and entrepreneurs setting up SaaS and RegTech businesses.
Mrs Routier added, “I am delighted to be leading the Digital Jersey Mentor Programme and would welcome any mentees or mentors wishing to have a conversation before signing up to contact me via email.”
