Digital Jersey hosts its first ‘analogue’ event to help make five-year plan a reality

Key individuals from Jersey’s public and private sectors are being invited to Digital Jersey’s first large-scale physical event of 2021, designed to help fast-track the island’s ambition to be a globally-renowned digital jurisdiction.

The island’s fast-improving Covid-19 situation means organisations can begin planning for ‘real-world’ events.

The two-day workshop in September will bring delegates face-to-face with keynote speakers to create tangible plans for Jersey’s continued digital transformation.

It follows the publication of Digital Jersey’s ambitious five-year plan which is focused around government, business, infrastructure and people, with a view to growing the island’s digital economy and creating a digitally skilled workforce, which meets the needs of current and emerging sectors.

Tony Moretta, CEO of Digital Jersey, told Channel Eye: “When the pandemic struck, we were among the first in the island to pivot our events to rich and absorbing online content. But, even as an organisation whose default position is ‘do it digitally’, we also know how important physical collaboration is. I think we’re all a bit sick of looking at screens so it will be great to get around 120 people in a room to co-create Jersey’s digital future.”

The event at the Radisson Blu on 29th and 30th September will see an invited audience of politicians, civil servants, business leaders, infrastructure providers, educators and key individuals work together and in a series of breakout sessions to think boldly and laterally about how their organisations can contribute to a stronger, more digital economy.

Mr Moretta added: “We got such positive and useful feedback when we announced our five-year plan earlier this year. The next step is to turn words into action. Anybody who knows us will know our inherent impatience to get things done. Getting some of this island’s best minds together to achieve that is something I’m very excited about. We have some bold ambitions as an organisation but we can’t do it all by ourselves and need digital to be at the centre of everyone’s future plans if we are going to future-proof our economy and way of life.”
