The Deloitte Corbet Cup and Shield finals are set to take place on Tuesday 14th May following a competitive nine-month-long league competition.
The competition which has been sponsored by Deloitte for more than 10 years, began in September with all teams playing against each other on a round-robin basis. The teams were then split into two groups with the top four teams competing for the Deloitte Corbet Cup and the remaining four teams competing for the Deloitte Corbet Shield. To determine the draw for the semi-final, first place will be played against fourth place and second place played against third place for both the Cup and the Shield.
The two finals will be as follows:
- Corbet Cup – Rovers White v St Martins U12
- Corbet Shield – Sylvans White v Rangers Black
Gary Roberts, Guernsey Football Association chief executive, said: “The Deloitte Corbet Cup and Shield competition is a staple event in the local football calendar. We are very appreciative of Deloitte’s support because it enables us to create a pathway for young players to begin their competitive footballing journeys on the island.”
David Becker, partner in audit and assurance at Deloitte, said: “It’s always a privilege to be a part of this initiative each year due to the popularity of the tournament. Good luck to both teams, and I look forward to watching the game.
“We are also proud to support the GFA through the GFA’s community programme which enables children of varying ages across the island have access to football lessons. We want to carry on supporting the next generation through sport and the primary school delivery programme is a great way to do so.
“Football is a huge part of our local community and it’s important to keep offering opportunities to help with the development of young players.”
