Deloitte refresh Guernsey Mind building

The Guernsey Mind headquarters got a fresh lick of paint to help mark this week’s World Mental Health Day, thanks to volunteers from Deloitte.

Thirty willing helpers from the Deloitte office took part in the impact day, to spruce up the Guernsey Mind offices. Throughout the day volunteers painted the charity’s sheds and three offices, giving them a fresh new look from top to bottom.

The building provides a base for the Mind team as well as providing a friendly and discrete location for activity and focus groups as well as one-to-one sessions.

This impact day is the latest in a series of activities that Deloitte has carried out as part of its three-year commitment to the charity.

As well as raising much-needed funds and awareness for the local mental health charity, Deloitte’s advisory team has conducted a review of Mind’s employer services and last year assisted with a pan-island mental wellbeing survey.

Last month saw two intrepid adventurers set off on their charity challenges. Jack Whyte from Deloitte’s Audit and Assurance team took part in the Ride Across Britan (RAB) and Ben Vaudin, Senior Manager in Deloitte’s Advisory team, scaled Mount Kilimanjaro.

Emily Litten, Executive Director of Guernsey Mind, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Deloitte for the support we have received from their team in Guernsey.

“It was lovely to see so many Deloitte volunteers offering their time to give the Guernsey Mind building a bit of a refresh. The building not only provides office space for the Mind team but is also a place where people who benefit from the charity come together.”

Sally Rochester, Director at Deloitte Guernsey, added: “Our partnership with Mind has focused on using our professional services to date, so it has been great fun to swap laptops for painting overalls and involve many people from our office in refreshing the well-used and well-loved Lions Mind Centre.

“The timing of this activity, so close to World Mental Health Day and Deloitte’s wellbeing week has also served to remind us all to consider our mental wellbeing and that of our colleagues and friends.”
