Deloitte promotions show new joiners the path to success

This year has seen new talent join Deloitte’s Guernsey office and some of the firm’s most promising individuals rise through the ranks with well-deserved promotions.

11 promotions to Manager and Senior Manager level highlight Deloitte’s exceptional training programmes and the firm’s approach to merit, rather than time-based career development.

Ben Vaudin, Harriet Gowan, Ollie Lythgoe and James Lihou have all been promoted to Senior Manager.

Ben and James both started their careers at Deloitte as part of the class of 2011 entering the school-leavers trainee program straight after finishing their A-levels at the Guernsey Grammar School & Sixth Form Centre. Achieving Senior Manager status at the age of just 25 demonstrates the stellar trajectory that this year’s new joiners could look forward to.

:Joining Deloitte straight from school meant that I could get three years ahead of my peers and enjoy the same career path as the university graduates.

“Deloitte has a culture of promoting based on merit, skills and knowledge, rather than time spent in a role and today’s new joiners could have a brilliant career path ahead of them,” said James Lihou.

A further seven promotions have been made across all departments in Deloitte’s Guernsey office. Adam Nadolski, Julie Mangahas, Belal Al Bonni, Danniel Zimuto, Marielle Fritsch have all been promoted to manager.

Deloitte’s latest new joiners, the class of 2018, includes islander Matthew Halliday who attended the University of Liverpool, where he read History and Philosophy.

A further three university graduates are relocating to Guernsey. Ali Malik studied Accounting and Finance at Brunel University; Viviane Kemge graduated from the University of Manchester and read International Business, Finances and Economics and Robert Lovett, who read English and Politics at the University College Cork.

This year, Deloitte also welcomes student Eddie Tombs onto the firm’s Scholar Scheme, which is a 30-week paid placement that offers students the chance to see what it would be like to work at Deloitte should they wish in the future. Eddie has been accepted to the University of Exeter where he will study accounting and finance following his placement.

The firm has also introduced a new industrial placement scheme, which offers training and work experience over a six to 12 month period and can lead to a place on the firm’s graduate trainee programme.

Jo Huxtable, Deloitte’s Talent Partner says: “Celebrating promotions whilst also welcoming the next generation of talent to the firm is one of our favourite times of the year.

“Deloitte’s early career development and trainee schemes are supportive and give bright young talent a fantastic start to their working lives. We also have first-class career progression opportunities – our teams work on local, national and global business, giving them valuable exposure and experience whilst enjoying agile working and the wonderful lifestyle that we are lucky to have in Guernsey.”
