Deloitte Guernsey will continue its sponsorship of the Guernsey Football Association (GFA) once again this season.
The professional services firm has supported the GFA for 15 consecutive years and is the Association’s official Community Partner.
The sponsorship helps to facilitate the Association’s work with the island’s schoolchildren and supports the annual Deloitte Corbet Cup and Corbet Shield competitions which began earlier this month with over 150 participants and six teams.
Additionally, the GFA has recently announced its primary school PE timetable for school Years 5 & 6 in partnership with the Guernsey Sports Commission and the School Sports Partnership.
This work is an integral part of the GFA delivery programme and is recognised for its importance in supporting and developing an enjoyment of exercise and physical activity amongst children and young people.
Gary Roberts, Chief Executive Officer of the GFA, said: “With the football season and school year both now up and running, the GFA Development Staff are looking forward to once again working across all local primary schools as part of the School Sports Partnership. We cannot underestimate the value in supporting physically literate and healthy children and the GFA is delighted to once again be playing a part in this initiative in partnership with Deloitte, and this support is greatly appreciated.
“It is also pleasing to see so many teams once again playing in the Deloitte Corbet Cup and Shield competitions. The competition is now synonymous with Deloitte, which is testament to the long-standing support provided by Deloitte to local football”.
David Becker, Partner at Deloitte, said: “We are delighted that our long-term partnership with the GFA is continuing for the foreseeable future. The work that the GFA does in schools and for young players through its programmes is growing every year, and we are proud to play a small part in making that happen”.
