Local department store de Gruchy hosted a special Liberation tea party for some of Jersey’s veterans on Wednesday 6th May.
Held in street-party style outside The Brasserie, the event welcomed more than 20 specially invited veterans, including one centenarian guest, for a Prosecco afternoon tea featuring a selection of sandwiches, freshly baked scones and homemade cakes.
Guests were entertained by the Optimistic Voices band, whose performance added to the warm and celebratory atmosphere.
The afternoon was hosted by Simon Youden, Store Director at de Gruchy. Speaking about the event, Simon said, “We’re proud to play our part in the Liberation celebrations and to honour the courage, spirit and sacrifice of Jersey’s wartime generation.
“This tea party is a small way for us to say thank you and to ensure our veterans feel recognised and celebrated during Liberation Week. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the afternoon, particularly the fantastic entertainment from the Optimistic Voices.”
