Next year’s True Grit Wetwheels Challenge will be held on 28th April 2024, with more category choices enabling people of all ages and abilities to take part.
Once again the event will take place at Ronez Quarry on the north coast, with several start times throughout the day to accommodate the increasing number of participants wishing to take part.
True Grit, which is organised by 3D Events and sponsored by Ravenscroft, IQ-EQ, Seapower Marine and Ronez, is the main fundraising event of the year for Wetwheels Jersey, a registered charity that makes it possible for people with disabilities to experience Jersey’s exciting and inspiring marine environment.
In 2024 there are more categories for people to enter, including Run Only, Team Obstacle, Individual Obstacle, and a shorter course for Year 4 and above. The school that enters the most teams can win a trip for 10 people on board Wetwheels Jersey.
Haydn Taylor, Managing Director of Ravenscroft in Jersey said, “True Grit is a brilliant fundraising challenge that has something for everyone. Whether you just want to run from the bottom of the quarry, 30 metres below sea level, to the top as quick as you can, want to take on the obstacles on your own or get together a team of family, friends, and work colleagues, it really is a different but enjoyable event – everyone crossing the line has a huge smile on their face!
Ravenscroft has been the gold sponsor since the first True Grit, and we have extended our support to the 2024 event, which we know will be bigger and better. We want to partner with events that raise funds and profile for charities like WetWheels which is making such a difference to those they support. It’s our way of giving back to the community who have invested with us and help Ravenscroft continue to grow.”
David Jones, Chair of Wetwheels Jersey said: “True Grit has become an established event on the Jersey calendar. It is a fun but competitive challenge, and it raises significant funds which help cover the cost of operating Wetwheels Jersey and enabling us to offer trips to disadvantaged and disabled people for no cost to them. Once again we are grateful to our sponsors and partners for their support and of course to Ronez, without whom this simply would not be possible. I would urge people to sign up soon because this is a very popular event and we want as many as possible to take part.”
True Grit is an annual charity event and each year staff at Ronez lay out a slightly different course, so teams that have taken part in previous years will always find a new challenge.
Ronez Sales Director Paul Pinel said: “We are delighted to continue to host this fantastic event and contribute to the much-needed fundraising for such a wonderful charity. It’s also a great opportunity for us to showcase the business and to highlight the wonderful work we do in the community. I would like to thank all the Ronez staff and volunteers who work so hard to help set up and manage the course.”
