Nine colleagues from the Channel Islands Coop laced up their walking boots for this year’s Guernsey Coop to Coop Walk, which took place on Friday 5th September in support of the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation.
The Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation(PPBF) provides practical, emotional, and financial support to local families with premature or seriously ill children.
The walkers were also showing their support for five colleagues who are preparing to take on the Trek Vietnam Challenge in October in aid of Jersey Cheshire Home.
The Vietnam trek is no easy feat. Participants will walk long distances each day in challenging heat and humidity, with steep climbs, rough ground, and little shade. It will be a demanding journey, both physically and mentally, in support of islanders with disabilities.
The Guernsey walk included 15 Coop stores, starting at the Longfrie Pharmacy at 9am and finishing six hours later at Vazon Food – a distance of 25 kilometres. The walk offered colleagues a chance to get active, connect with their community, and raise money for two charities making a huge difference locally.
Coop CEO Mark Cox, who is one of those taking part in the Vietnam Trek, said: “By taking part in the Guernsey Coop to Coop Walk, colleagues supported the incredible work of the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation, as well as our colleagues who are pushing themselves to the limit in Vietnam for Jersey Cheshire Home. It’s a great way to give back while enjoying a walk with friends, and colleagues.”
