Condor is offering free transport to France for Channel Islanders taking supplies to support the humanitarian aid effort in Ukraine.
The company will waive fares and freight charges between Guernsey, Jersey and St Malo for vehicles and passengers travelling with donated food, medical and other provisions to help those in Eastern Europe.
Steve Champion-Smith, Condor’s Freight Director, said: ‘We understand the importance of supporting the aid effort so are pleased we could do our little bit. It is really gratifying to see so many Islanders who are willing to help and we calculate that we have already transported 100 tonnes of goods.
“Two lorries travelled with us to St Malo over the weekend en route to Poland and there are more scheduled over the coming days. We are also transferring a vehicle from Jersey that is being equipped under guidance from the UK’s Ukrainian Embassy as a first aid, immediate response vehicle.”
Condor’s local freight teams are providing guidance to islanders and handling the paperwork needed for the shipments, which includes transit documents, inventories and export declarations.
Anyone wishing to transport items via St Malo can email Condor, call 01481 728620 in Guernsey or 01534 872509 in Jersey.
