The Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority has promoted two members of staff to senior roles.
Sarah Price (pictured) will take up the position of Chief Operating Officer and Peter Hetherington becomes Chief Economist.
Sarah joined the Authority in October 2014. She has worked as a Senior Case Officer and was appointed Company Secretary in July 2020. In addition to these roles, Sarah manages the Authority’s competition work, including mergers and acquisitions have increased significantly in recent years.
Sarah has a background in shipping and ports, with significant experience working in local government and completed a Master of Arts in European Competition Law from Kings College, London in 2019.
Peter joined the Authority in August 2020. He is an experienced economist and has worked for regulators in the United Kingdom including Ofcom, Ofwat and the Gambling Commission.
Since joining the Authority Peter has led the development of the Authority’s market study programme, this has included, among others, the delivery of studies into Alcohol Pricing and Promotions, Freight Logistics and School Uniforms. Alongside this he has led a number of major projects in the regulated sectors, including price and market reviews.
Peter has a first-class degree in Economics and an MSc in Industrial Economics with Distinction from the University of East Anglia.
Commenting on the promotions, Tim Ringsdore CEO of the Authority said: “Sarah and Peter have made a significant contribution to our work and have been pivotal in delivering our strategic policies.
“They have both developed and managed relationships with our key stakeholders and been instrumental in raising awareness of our work to a highly professional level. In their new roles they will continue to support the Board and me in developing our strategy to ensure markets work well for businesses and consumers. I congratulate them on their promotions.”
