This past weekend saw keynote speaker, Claire Lomas MBE, inspire, move and motivate her audience at The Disruptors Club event – Mindset and Wellbeing for Life
Claire’s life turned upside down on 6 May 2007 when she became paralysed from the chest down in a horse riding accident which fractured her neck, dislocated her back, fractured her ribs, punctured a lung and gave her pneumonia.
During her morning presentation and afternoon workshop, she spoke about the seconds that changed her life, and candidly described the darkest times, and how she overcame them to be the first person in the world to complete a Marathon in a bionic walking suit.
Claire was also joined by local guest speakers Dr Marie-Christine Dix of Align, Isidro Da Mata and Andy Brown of The Disruptors Club discussing Mindset and Wellbeing in business and in life.
Visiting the island with her family, including husband Dan who is part of the team who assist Claire in her challenges for charity, they took time outside of the event to explore Jersey.
As Claire is about to undertake training to gain her Private Pilot’s Licence, Jersey Aero Club kindly donated a flight around the island for Claire, her husand Dan and daughter Maisie.
Event organiser Andy Brown said: “Our aim was to bring a truly inspirational person to Jersey to inspire and motivate islanders to achieve much more in their lives, and Claire really did touch hearts and changed minds during the weekend.”
Claire and Dan, who is already a Private Pilot, hope to return to Jersey in their micrrolights once Claire has finished her training.
