The recent Citywealth Powerwomen Awards have highlighted the talent in the local legal industry, with a number of professionals named across the islands.

Ogier’s director of marketing, Kate Kirk (pictured) was named ‘Woman of the Year – Business Services’ (Gold). It’s the second time she has received the accolade, following her previous win in 2017.

Ogier’s global managing partner Edward Mackereth said: “Kate is truly a leader in her field, which is demonstrated not only through Ogier’s award-winning brand, marketing and communications, but also through her outstanding leadership of her team.

“In light of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, it’s particularly fitting to shine a light on the talented women we are lucky to work alongside at Ogier.”

Head of Collas Crill’s International Private Client and Trusts team in Jersey, Kellyann Ozouf, was named ‘Woman of the Year – Professional Services’ (Gold). Her award came as part of a strong Channel Island showing in that category, with Nancy Chien of Bedell Cristin in Jersey receiving the Silver award.

Female lawyers at Mourant were also recognised at this year’s awards. Associate Roisin Cullinane of the Jersey office was given the Silver award in the ‘Woman of the Year – Future Leaders (Associate, VP)’ category while Guernsey counsel Catherine Moore received the Silver in the ‘Woman of the Year – Rising Star’ category.

Mourant global managing partner, Jonathan Rigby, said: “We’re so proud of Catherine and Roisin on this thoroughly deserved achievement. They are both excellent lawyers who demonstrate strong technical ability, a proactive; client focused approach and consistently go above and beyond to support others in a professional and personable manner. Our firm has an ambitious growth strategy that relies on our ability to empower our people to be the best they can be, so to have not one, but two recognised in this way is extremely gratifying.”

The Citywealth Powerwomen Awards aim to recognise the individuals and companies who maximise the potential of women in wealth. They spotlight individuals and companies who support care giving responsibilities, female leadership and celebrate diversity, and who maximise the potential of women in leadership roles within the wealth sector to create a platform for best practice to collectively exercise positive social influence in their industry.
