The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky will be broadcast live from Jersey on Thursday August 5th, to mark the station’s new transmissions to the Channel Islands via DAB Digital Radio.
Chris will be joined by co-presenters Vassos Alexander, Rachel Horne and the team, who will be live from Nude Food at the Beach from 7am-10am.
Local ambassadors will be joining the show including Jersey historian Nicky Mansell, Phil Le Maistre from Master Farms and Lucy, the owner of Nude Food to discuss all the great things that Jersey has to offer.
Chris and the team will be trying out SUP yoga on-air with Rebecca Taylor, Cider tasting with Sarah Matlock of La Robeline Cider, oyster tasting with Shannon Le Seelleur from Seymour Oysters and enjoying The Jersey Catch with skipper Josh Dearing.
The show will be broadcast on the new DAB network that will broadcast all services in DAB+.
Virgin Radio Content Director, Mike Cass said: “We are so excited to be coming to Jersey to launch our new DAB transmission, so Channel Island listeners can now tune into the show via DAB Digital radio as well as online or via the app. Jersey is a beautiful place and I know the team are going to have loads of fun enjoying Jersey hospitality and broadcasting the spirit of the Channel Islands across the airwaves.”
Tony Moretta, Chief Executive of Digital Jersey said: “Having been responsible for promoting digital radio a decade ago in the UK, it gives me particular pleasure to switch on not only local services on DAB here but also a wide range of national stations like Virgin Radio which we previously couldn’t receive. Jersey has the second fastest broadband in the world so it’s about time we got the latest radio technology as well!”
Amanda Burns, CEO of Visit Jersey said: “Launching this DAB multiplex is a great opportunity to welcome Chris and the Virgin Radio Breakfast Show to Jersey. This will be a fantastic opportunity to give listeners a flavour of Jersey from the shoreline and all that the island offers.”
To tune in, listeners in Jersey and Guernsey simply need to retune/rescan their DAB radios from Sunday August 1st and they’ll be able to find Virgin Radio UK alongside its sister stations, talkSPORT and Times Radio.
