Lucy Domaille rallied a network of individuals from local organisations to come together and make possible a remarkable gift donation of a new transport bus to local charity Bright Beginnings.
The bus will allow the charity the freedom to take children for enriching outings around the island, to nurture their development.
To bring this project to life, she initially sought help from Andy Furniss at Petit Train, with whom she co-owned the van. They then called on the generosity of Paul Beausire from Sign Solutions, who donated the artwork and stickering, Oliver Goater at Network Insurance & Financial Planning who insured the vehicle for a year and André Whiteway from Whiteway Motors who donated the fuel. These acts of kindness are a perfect example of what can be achieved when a tight knit community, such as in Guernsey, comes together.
Bright Beginnings is a charity which provides support through pregnancy, birth and beyond. The charity runs a Children’s Centre, Nursery & Preschool and a literacy programme to provide families with immeasurable assistance and care for new parents and their children. Their objective is to create a safe and nurturing environment, with loving and caring staff who become family to their recipients, creating a home away from home.
Lisa, the CEO of Bright Beginnings said: “We are thrilled to receive such a generous gift, which will truly brighten our children’s lives. The ease of having our own transport is immeasurable and will enable the children to experience learning, fun and joy beyond our setting on a regular basis. The staff are extremely excited to take the children out and add further enrichment to their time spent at Bright Beginnings.”
Lucy Domaille shares her gratitude: “Bright Beginnings has given my son a safe and nurturing environment he needed to grow, and there is no price that can be put on knowing your child is receiving the best care, but I think the bus is a way I can show my gratitude towards the charity. This experience has totally affirmed my faith that good people do exist and when you come together, anything is possible!”
