Four charitable causes for children in Jersey and Guernsey have been awarded a total of £232,631, supported by Channel Islands Lottery funding.
Jersey Community Foundation has awarded the St Brelade’s Youth Project’s ‘Skate Park Project’ £40,000 of CI Lottery Funding. The Skate Park Project encourages social interaction, skill development, creative expression and a sense of belonging and camaraderie among participants while promoting healthy and active lifestyles among Jersey’s youth population.
The Association of Jersey Charities (AJC) has awarded £30,000 of Channel Islands (CI) Lottery funding to Brightly (pictured). Brightly is a small, independent charity that awards grants to children and young people who are being supported by the Children’s Service. Their support creates positive experiences and opportunities to help improve children and young people’s daily lives and support them to move towards independence. The charity is using the grant to support staff salaries, who in turn help to grow and meet the needs of young people in care.
The Social Investment Fund in Guernsey has awarded £137,971 to the Trauma Recovery Centre and £24,660 to Amherst Primary School PTA, with funding supported by the CI Lottery.
The Trauma Recovery Centre provides individual therapy sessions to children and young people who have experienced a range of traumatic experiences, and support groups for their parents and carers. This could include anything from a family break up, bullying and bereavement to neglect, domestic violence and human trafficking. Their grant is helping to expand the centre and their services, as well as contributing to their core running costs, for the next three years.
Amherst Primary School PTA is using the grant to replace equipment and make essential repairs to their playground for the benefit of their children.
The CI Lottery works closely with Jersey Community Foundation, the Association of Jersey Charities and the Social Investment Fund to distribute lottery funding to worthy and charitable causes across the Channel Islands.
Jon Taylor, Head of Lottery, said: “We are thrilled to see the significant positive impact of CI Lottery funding for local children’s charities and voluntary groups. By providing essential support and creating opportunities, these funds help to improve the lives of children and young people in Jersey and Guernsey. The dedication and hard work of these charities are truly inspiring, and we are honoured to be able to provide them with Lottery funding through the distribution providers, to help support their excellent work.”
