Calling all writers, poets, lyricists, and storytellers – that includes those of you who make endless notes, keep a journal, or stockpile little snippets of writing!
Liberate would love to see what you compose for the Channel Islands LGBTQ+ Writing Competition 2024. All you need to do is craft a piece of writing up to 1,000 words which has an LGBTQ+ theme – that can really be almost anything, and can be in a literary format of your choice.
As a celebration of queer expression, the competition serves to inform the public about LBGTQ+ challenges and triumphs of the past, present and future, while showcasing the incredible talent of the Channel Islands. It launches for LGBTQ+ History Month in February.
Liberate CEO Ellie Jones said: “The annual LGBTQ+ writing competition grows each year and it’s wonderful to hear people’s stories. They are so often a reflection of people’s experiences which can be both heart-warming and heart-breaking.
“The entries, which are displayed on the awards night, are a great way for people to get an insight into the lived experience of LGBTQ+ people.”
All entries must be submitted by Sunday 14th April here.
Winners will be announced in May. Prizes of £100 Amazon vouchers will be awarded to the winner of each category and the Pippa McCathie memorial trophy will be awarded for the second year.
