Channel Island Financial Ombudsman (CIFO) has successfully hosted its first ever pan-island webinar to announce the results from the 2019 CIFO annual report.
This yearly event that welcomes attendees from the finance industry, consumer groups, government, regulators and the general public across the Channel Islands has, until this year, been a physical meeting. However, the Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in the need to adapt.
Douglas Melville, Principal Ombudsman and Chief Executive at CIFO confirmed: “We wanted to share our results with as many people as possible without compromising the safety of those involved. With travel restrictions and social distancing requirements still in place, we couldn’t host a face-to-face meeting, so we asked The Refinery to help us find a digital solution to deliver the seminar remotely. We are really delighted with how successful the event was. We were able to seamlessly present to 85 individual attendees and groups from Guernsey and Jersey”.
Alistair Jerrom-Smith, Technical Director at The Refinery added: “We used ‘GoToWebinar’ to host this event for CIFO and the process for set-up was incredibly simple. We provided continuous support during the event and the feedback from CIFO and the attendees has been very positive”.
Douglas Melville continued: “Covid-19 has required businesses across the world to adapt quickly. Whilst we are operating in an environment where face-to-face meetings are not currently possible, it is reassuring that there are secure and effective digital options that allow us to continue business as normal. This technology enabled us to deliver our message as effectively as previous events for both ourselves and our attendees and we will definitely consider using this approach again, perhaps in conjunction with face-to-face meetings once a lifting of restrictions permit”.
