Castle Cornet was illuminated in orange last night ahead of the inaugural Guernsey Bitcoin Summit, which is taking place today within the Castle grounds.
The lighting marked the start of the invitation-only event, which will bring together speakers, industry representatives and advisers to discuss Bitcoin, regulation and institutional use of digital assets.
The programme is due to begin with the traditional midday gun, ahead of a series of panel discussions and presentations.
The Guernsey Bitcoin Summit has been organised by a local entrepreneur and is supported by private sponsors including Walkers, CThru, Boom and Hex Labs.
Chris Hutley-Hurst, partner at Walkers and a panellist at the summit, said: “Guernsey has a long track record as a well-regulated and internationally respected financial centre. The summit provides a timely forum for exploring how Bitcoin and other digital assets fit within that framework, and for bringing together different perspectives on the regulatory and institutional considerations involved, with a view to making Guernsey a leading digital asset jurisdiction.”
