Carey Olsen’s FinTech practice has achieved a standout five Band 1 rankings in the Chambers FinTech 2024 guide.
The firm’s Bermuda and Jersey FinTech practices were both ranked in Band 1, with partners Steven Rees Davies (Bermuda), Chris Duncan (Cayman Islands) and Jersey’s Chris Griffin (pictured) also achieving Band 1 individual rankings.
Carey Olsen Bermuda has advanced two positions to secure its Band 1 ranking, just six years after the office opened. The team has been commended by clients as “really knowledgeable in Bermuda law and very responsive on time-sensitive matters”. Bermuda partner Steven Rees Davies, recently named on Citywealth’s Top 50 Crypto Professionals list for 2023, has also been elevated to Band 1, with clients praising his “deep expertise in digital assets” and “impressive FinTech practice”.
Carey Olsen’s FinTech team in Jersey and partner Chris Griffin have also maintained their Band 1 rankings, with Chris now the only lawyer to be individually ranked in Jersey. The guide describes Chris as “an expert in Jersey financial regulation” who “has worked on many market-firsts”, whilst clients confirm that they hold him in “in very high regard”.
In the Cayman Islands, Chris Duncan – who was promoted to the Carey Olsen partnership earlier this year – has also been ranked in Band 1, and the Cayman Islands office has upheld its Band 2 position. Widely respected as one of the best FinTech lawyers in Cayman, clients told Chambers that “Chris is incredibly commercial, and very relatable when it comes to clients as well”.
