A Jersey Hospice nurse was the winner of this year’s draw for the VW Camper Van Raffle which raises over £50,000 for Les Amis.
After a break in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, 5,000 tickets went on sale with the chance to win a brand-new VW California Coast Camper Van. Raffle entrants also had the chance to win cash prizes of £1,000 and £500.
Hospice nurse Tracey Fallon was the lucky winner with her ticket drawn by the Lieutenant Governor, Air Chief Marshall Sir Stephen Dalton last week.
Tracey was so thrilled she had to see it the next day: “I couldn’t believe it at first when Jason telephoned me and told me my number had been drawn. I had to go with him to Motor Mall the next day so that I could confirm it was real. I am so happy to have won this amazing prize and so grateful to Les Amis and to Motor Mall for their assistance!”
The funds raised from the raffle make a big difference to the vital work the charity does in supporting people with learning disabilities.
Jason Loveless, Head of Support Services, said: “We had a fantastic response from islanders who supported us by buying raffle tickets. After missing it last year, it was great to bring this back and I am extremely grateful to Motor Mall who provided us with the latest model at cost price. The funds raised from this raffle are vital in supporting the work that we do, and it is fantastic we were also able to make someone’s Christmas.”
