The Institute of Directors (IoD) February seminar, sponsored by Butterfield, will discuss how Guernsey’s energy sector is transforming and playing its role in managing the global climate change crisis.

The States of Guernsey will release and debate Guernsey’s new energy policy letter this Spring. Ahead of that, Alan Bates Chief Executive of Guernsey Electricity will discuss how the energy sector is already transforming and specifically introduce the steps the utility company is taking to contribute to the island’s carbon reduction targets and enable us all to plug into renewables.

John Clacy, Chair of the IoD in Guernsey, said: “Climate change, resulting from the use of fossil fuels and their carbon emissions, presents a significant global environmental challenge. How Guernsey responds to this crisis was the focus of our 2019 Convention and the IoD hopes to keep this at the top of the business agenda in 2020.”

The talk will also reflect on the ways we’re all using electricity differently and what Guernsey Electricity’s future role is to facilitate this.

The breakfast takes place on Friday 28 February 2020 at the OGH Hotel and you can book here: https://www.iod.gg/events/event/embracing-and-leading-changing-energy-sector
