Members of Guernsey’s construction industry are joining forces to support a vital housing project aimed at helping young people who are at risk of homelessness.
As part of the initiative, Norman Piette is supplying the building materials required for a full property refurbishment, working in partnership with Wheeler Developments, who are carrying out the building work at a heavily discounted rate. The project, led by local charity Maison Saint Pierre, will see the transformation of a property on Victoria Road into supported accommodation for young adults, managed by Action for Children.
Although full details will be shared by Maison Saint Pierre once the work is complete, the project is a strong example of how the building industry continues to support the local community—bringing together skills, materials, and experience to create lasting, positive impact.

“We’ve always believed that the construction sector plays a vital role in the community—not just through the buildings we help create, but by making a real difference in people’s lives,” said John Bampkin, CEO at the Norman Piette Group. “This project aligns perfectly with our values, and we’re proud to stand alongside others in the industry to support it.”
Norman Piette has provided timber, insulation, fixings, and a wide range of materials needed for the development, while Wheeler Developments are leading the refurbishment on site, providing their time, expertise, and resources to bring the building back to life.
The property, once completed, will provide secure, short-term homes for young people in need of a helping hand—many of whom will be transitioning out of care or facing difficult personal circumstances. Action for Children will manage the building and work closely with residents to help them develop life skills, build confidence, and take steps toward a more stable, independent future.
The £2.4 million project is being fully funded by Maison Saint Pierre, with generous support from across the construction sector, including Evans Architects Ltd and a number of local tradespeople, all playing a role in bringing the vision to life.
“This is a fantastic example of what can be achieved when people in the industry come together,” added John. “By working collaboratively, we’re not just providing materials—we’re helping create safe spaces and fresh starts for young islanders.”
