Foresters Healthcare has announced Bowel Cancer Guernsey as its Chief Ranger’s charity appeal for the next two years.
The society has also donated £1,100 to the charity. The funds for Bowel Cancer Guernsey will go towards its ongoing awareness campaign, to educate islanders about the cancer.
Anne Brouard, chair at Bowel Cancer Guernsey said: “We’re so pleased and grateful to Foresters for making us their nominated charity and for the donation. This donation and support enable us to continue to improve the awareness, prevention and diagnosis of bowel cancer in the Bailiwick.
“With approximately 40 to 45 new cases of bowel cancer each year in the Bailiwick, the cancer is the third most common in Guernsey. Over 90% of those diagnosed with early bowel cancer are successfully treated if detected early.
“If anyone notices any new symptoms, I’d encourage you to consult a healthcare professional.”
Roy Le Poidevin, Chief Ranger of Foresters Healthcare, said: “Bowel Cancer Guernsey does extraordinary things for the local community. I’m looking forward to supporting them more as our nominated charity for the next two years.”
