Boatworks+, Guernsey’s leading provider of marine services and chandlery, has appointed a General Manager to implement the local business’ exciting growth plans.

Stuart Tucker will be responsible for the day-to-day management and operations at Boatworks+. His role will include engaging with customers and suppliers and meeting strategic and operational targets for the business.

Stuart has extensive management and electrical engineering experience and joins Boatworks+ from Guernsey Electricity where he worked as a manager for 15 years and was involved in large-scale projects including high-end residential developments and solar panel installations.

Stuart has a Chartered Institute of Building qualification and various health and safety management qualifications. He holds Royal Yachting Association (RYA) qualifications including RYA Yachtmaster theory and has been a crew member of the St Peter Port lifeboat for the last 16 years. Stuart is a helm on the Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat.

Peter Tom CBE, local businessman and owner of Boatworks+, said: “Stuart’s project management experience, specialist knowledge and passion for Guernsey’s marine community make him the perfect fit for the role of general manager at Boatworks+. I’m pleased he’s joined our growing team.

“Stuart will lead on our development plans for the business and will play an important role in ensuring St. Peter Port is synonymous with innovative, excellent maritime services. Boatworks+ is an important asset for the island and I’m excited to be investing in the business to help it meet its full potential and support the continued growth and prosperity of the harbour.”

Boatworks+, based at Castle Emplacement, is a one-stop marine services centre and an important landmark on the southside of St Peter Port harbour. It has been Guernsey’s leading provider of maritime repairs and maintenance programmes for over 30 years.

Stuart said: “Boatworks+ is a key part of the heritage of St Peter Port and I’m excited to revitalise the business and enhance its role in the harbour community. I’m looking forward to working alongside the Boatworks+ team and supporting the local boating community and members of the marine trade in the island.”
