Audit, tax and advisory firm BDO in Guernsey has welcomed six trainee accountants to strengthen its audit and tax client service offerings.
Eryn James, Toby White, Janis Bormanis, George Simmons, Eugene Dowdney and Georgi Georgiev recently joined the firm and they will develop and shape their careers while they study for professional qualifications.
BDO Guernsey’s, managing director, Richard Searle, said: “I’m thrilled these young professionals have chosen BDO to kickstart their careers – we welcome them to the team and look forward to supporting them and helping them realise their aspirations.
“BDO is an organisation which proudly puts people at the heart of what we do offering opportunities to learn and develop. Providing an exciting and challenging environment to our trainees begins on day one with us.”
These trainees have studied a broad range of subjects at degree and A level, but they all have a common goal to learn more about the business world and excel in their careers. The cohort studied locally, with Janis Bormanis and Eugene Dowdney also gaining qualifications in Latvia and Turkey respectively.
Responsibilities for the trainees include obtaining audit evidence, preparing analysis of accounting data, reviewing financial statements, raising awareness of regulations, preparing Guernsey, Jersey and UK tax returns and supporting senior audit and tax team members.
