Vent has launched Guernsey’s first automated ductwork manufacturing facility, introducing new efficiencies for the local construction sector.
Traditionally, ductwork fabrication has been a manual, labour-intensive, and time-consuming process. Ventʼs new approach harnesses automation and precision engineering to deliver custom ductwork at speed, producing lengths in under a minute and ready for immediate use. This capability helps to position Guernsey as a leader in modern construction manufacturing within the Channel Islands.
The facility, supported by key industry partner Engel Europa, is the first automated ductwork production line of its kind on the island. With advanced machinery and a streamlined process, Vent can produce rectangular, spiral, insulated, and bespoke duct types to meet a wide range of HVAC, industrial, and commercial needs.
As Guernsey prepares for significant construction projects in the coming years, Vent can help reduce reliance on imports from the UK, meaning developers, landlords, and building owners now have access to a more efficient local solution.
The company is currently operating from a temporary factory but will move into a new facility at the Normandie Industrial Estate, increasing capacity. The company will be opening an apprenticeship role next year, helping young an islander to gain valuable skills.
At the heart of the facility is a hydraulic duct coil line, combining smart controls, touchscreen programming, and integration with Autodesk Plasma software. Capable of producing duct units in as little as 20 seconds, this system allows Vent to deliver faster and more efficient solutions to the Channel Islands market.
Gregory Zimmerman, Founder and Associate Director of Vent, told Channel Eye: “This is a significant milestone for Guernsey’s construction industry. By combining automation, local expertise and industry-leading technology, Vent is proud to provide a modern alternative to importing ductwork”.
