Aurigny has invested £300,000 in improving accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility.
As part of the investment, Aurigny will introduce new ATR-recommended aisle chairs in Guernsey. These chairs are designed to be the maximum permissible width for the ATR, providing greater comfort and ease for passengers when boarding and disembarking the aircraft.
Additional ramps will be arriving in November and December, including one ramp at Gatwick and Southampton and two ramps in Guernsey, which have been purchased in conjunction with Guernsey Airport. The new ramps will offer better protection from the elements for passengers, while also improving manual handling for staff when positioning the ramps to the aircraft.
Within the Aurigny fleet, the ATR aircraft have disability aids fitted in the toilets, and 100% of the seat armrests are capable of being raised.
Dave Cox (pictured), Head of Ground Operations added: “We assist around 500 reduced mobility customers each month, and we’re working hard to enhance their travel experience with us. We remain dedicated to offering as much support as possible with specialised equipment provided to all customers who request it.
“Our customers can find all of the information they need about how we can help them on the Assistance Hub on our website.”
