To mark National Women in Engineering Day, Aurigny is celebrating the invaluable contributions of the women in their Technical Services department, a vital part of their engineering operations.
Dawn Browning and Olga Le Noury (pictured together) play a pivotal role in keeping aircraft flying safely, managing everything from maintenance planning and aircraft records to service history and compliance documentation.
Dawn, Head of Technical Services, celebrates her 45th anniversary with Aurigny on Monday (23 June), and is keen to encourage any girls and you women to consider a career in engineering: “When I joined Aurigny straight out of school, I had no idea where the journey would take me. Once you step into aviation, you quickly realise if it’s the path for you, and for me, there was no turning back. Forty-five years on, I’m still here because I love what I do. Technical Services may be behind the scenes, but it’s central to engineering and keeping our aircraft flying safely and efficiently.
“For any woman considering this field: don’t be intimidated by how it looks from the outside. It may be a male dominated industry, but the opportunities are immense; just give it a go!”
Olga, Planning & Technical Records Officer, shares her perspective: “Aviation is a constantly evolving world, and there’s always something new to learn. My advice to women looking to join engineering is simple: Be brave and go for it! You might just find a career that inspires the next generation.”
