Three new officers have been voted to join the committee of the Association of Jersey Charities, following the organisation’s Annual General Meeting held earlier this month.
Attended by members of the AJC from across Jersey’s charity sector, the AGM saw three sitting officers stand down, in line with the AJC’s constitution, including Kevin Keen OBE (formerly Chair of the AJC), Nichola Brennan and Simon Larbalestier.
In addition, three new committee members were welcomed to the committee:
- Adrian Franklin: a senior financial services industry professional, Adrian has a Postgraduate Diploma in Charity Accounting and Financial Management and experience of working in an organisation in the UK with similar aims to the AJC.
- Peggy Gielen (pictured): a legal and technical manager with Jersey Finance, Peggy has extensive professional experience in public governance, policy formulation and fostering strategic partnerships across public and private sectors.
- Karen Lysiak: HR Consultant with HR Now, Karen is a highly experienced professional and expert in employment matters. Karen has been working with the AJC as an independent member of its Grants Committee for the past year.
Taking over the Chairman role is Marcus Liddiard. He said: “I’d like to thank Kevin, Nichola and Simon for their considerable contribution and service both to the AJC and the wider voluntary community over recent years. Meanwhile, I’m delighted to welcome three exceptional people to the team who will undoubtedly play a valuable role as we continue to champion the local charity sector, support the amazing work it does, and act as the voice of local charitable organisations in what continues to be a challenging period.”
Outgoing Chairman Kevin Keen added: “It has been a privilege to have served on the committee of such a fantastic organisation as the AJC. I feel we have made some excellent progress over the past few years – highlighting the fundraising challenges faced by the sector through our members survey, promoting regular giving and championing the concept of legacy donations, to name but a few. I’m keen to continue to support the good work of the AJC now, in a voluntary capacity.”
