The Association of Jersey Charities approved more than £200,000 in grants to local charities in the first quarter of 2025.

Following the latest quarterly meeting of its Grants Committee in March, a total of £201,473.33 was awarded by the Association of Jersey Charities (AJC). The latest approvals include grants totalling £99,360 from profits from the Channel Islands Lottery as follows:

  • £30,000 to Jersey Cheshire Home, to support the salary of a specialist therapeutic wellbeing officer
  • £30,000 to Jersey Eating Disorders Support, to partially support the salaries of both the CEO and Deputy CEO
  • £10,000 to Caring Cooks of Jersey, to support the Winter 24-25 ‘Food or Fuel’ campaign
  • £29,360 to the Oxygen Therapy Centre, to support the salary of a Centre Manager

In addition, a further £30,000 was allocated to charities on a conditional basis, and £72,113.33 was approved from private donations.

Commenting on the latest round of grants, Jill Ryan, Chair of the AJC Grants Committee, said: “As charities in Jersey continue to provide diverse and critical services to islanders, we are pleased to be able to approve a number of grants once again this quarter to support their good work in the local community, against a persistently challenging backdrop.”

One of those charities benefiting from a grant last quarter is Jersey Cheshire Home. Donna Abel, CEO of JCH, said: “We are incredibly grateful to the AJC for their generous multi-year salary grant, which has made it possible to appoint a dedicated Specialist Wellbeing Officer at Jersey Cheshire Home. This vital support is already making a profound difference to the lives of islanders with disabilities, enhancing their quality of life and ensuring they receive the care and encouragement they deserve. Thanks to the AJC’s commitment, we can continue to create a nurturing environment where residents can maintain their independence and come together for therapeutic activities, providing them with a greater sense of purpose.”
