Channel Eye has joined forces with Royston Guest, leading Business Growth Coach and CEO/Founder of Pathways Global, in our column, ‘Ask the Business Coach’.
Where do you want to be, personally and professionally, by the end of this year? What about in five- or ten-years’ time?
Wherever it is, whatever you want to achieve, your success is inherently based on actively working towards it in a structured and systematic way, with passion and drive and with the ultimate goal clearly in your mind.
Three key takeaways
- Start with the end in mind.
- Don’t think of your goals; think from your goals.
- Write your goals in the present, not past tense.
Episode timestamps
- [0.48] Most people think of their goals rather than from their goals. The secret to goal setting is to think with the end in mind, not the start. Transport yourself into the position where you have already achieved your goals; what does that look like, what did you have to do, and how does it make you feel?
- [2.23] Write your goals in the present, not past tense. If you write your goals in the future tense, they will always stay in the future. The moment you write them in the present tense sends a subconscious message to your brain to say this is happening now; I need to take action.
- [3.19] When goal setting, always start with the end in mind.
