Channel Eye has joined forces with Royston Guest, leading Business Growth Coach and CEO/Founder of Pathways Global, in our column, ‘Ask the Business Coach’.
The pace and speed at which we are all moving today is relentless. There is no break, no respite from the daily crises coming our way. Everything seems to be a priority!
To help stay on top, here are my top three tips for dealing with overwhelm and an ever-increasing workload.
Three key takeaways
- /Pause and breathe, which creates a physiological change.
- Create a prioritisation checklist.
- Proactively manage workflows and work stacks.
Episode timestamps
- [1.22] When you start to feel overwhelmed or anxious, your body reacts by tensing up, and your breathing becomes faster and shallower, which prevents oxygen from getting into your body. This creates a spiral effect. The best counter reaction is to pause and breathe, which creates a physiological change.
- [2.50] Our number of priorities is growing, so the key is how you prioritise the priorities. Create a prioritisation checklist which asks critical questions to help you prioritise, for example, will it help drive growth, will it help us save money, will it add value to our clients, does it have to be done now, does it have to be done by me?
- [5.09] As a leader, become more aware of workflows and work stacks of individuals, teams and self. Challenge the priorities and what needs to be done. Work more collaboratively to manage these workflows with open communication among team members.
