ArtHouse Jersey has announced that Sir Stephen Dalton will stand down as their Chair after three years leading the charity.

Having guided ArtHouse Jersey through a period of increasing public impact, reach and engagement, Sir Stephen feels that this is the right moment to appoint a successor with the charity well-positioned to build on its success and deepen its contribution to Island life.

Under Sir Stephen’s leadership, the charity has aligned its work with the Island’s Arts Strategy, delivering large-scale public art projects, strengthening its education and community programmes, broadening engagement with audiences across the Island, and deepening its support for local creatives.

In 2025 alone, more than 70,000 people engaged with ArtHouse Jersey’s work, including 42,000 visitors to Bubbletecture, one of the charity’s most successful public realm projects to date. Across schools and community settings, more than 7,400 students participated in arts-focused activities, while over 229 creatives benefited directly from funding, commissions, grants and professional opportunities delivered through the charity.

Sir Stephen Dalton, said: “Serving as Chair of ArtHouse Jersey has been a tremendous privilege. Over the past three years, I have had the opportunity to work alongside an exceptionally dedicated team, talented artists, committed members of the Board and generous supporters who all care deeply about the role creativity can play in Island life.

“What has always stood out to me is the charity’s ability to bring people together through the arts, whether through major public events, work with schools and community groups, or by supporting artists to develop ambitious new ideas rooted in Jersey while connected to the wider world.

“I am incredibly proud of what the organisation has achieved during this period and I leave knowing that ArtHouse Jersey is in a strong position for the future. I would like to thank everyone who has supported the charity’s work and helped make such a meaningful impact possible.”

ArtHouse Jersey Chief Executive, Tom Dingle, said: “Sir Stephen has provided thoughtful, generous and steady leadership during an important period in the charity’s development. He has been a passionate advocate for the value of the arts and culture in Jersey and has consistently championed the role creativity can play in supporting wellbeing, education, community life and the Island’s future.

“During his time as Chair, ArtHouse Jersey has continued to grow in confidence and ambition, delivering work that has reached more people than ever before while also strengthening the organisation’s governance and long-term resilience. On behalf of the entire team and Board, I would like to sincerely thank Sir Stephen for his contribution and commitment to the charity.”
