The Medical Specialist Group is once again offering a local medical student the opportunity to receive a £2,000 bursary each year for up to five years while they are at university.
Applications open on 1 April and close on 31 May. Only students from a household with an income of under £100,000 are eligible for the bursary.
The bursary will allow a budding doctor to purchase books and medical equipment and spend more time focusing on their studies rather than having to take on a part-time job.
It was last awarded in 2023 because two awards were made that year: the 2023 bursary to Louis Thomas to support his studies at Norwich Medical School and the 2024 bursary to Joseph Blake, who is studying at Leicester Medical School.

MSG Chair, Dr Steve Evans (main picture), said: “Our bursary scheme gives young people with a passion for medicine a helping hand in achieving their goal of becoming a doctor. It is extremely rewarding seeing these students progress through their studies with incredible drive and motivation, and we urge anyone looking to study medicine at university this September to apply.”
Louis said: “The MSG bursary has provided me with lots of opportunities and really helped me focus on my studies. From textbooks and medical equipment to transport to Norwich and around the city, it has been invaluable. It has helped me keep in touch with local professionals and attend national conferences, building my network and portfolio and further enriching my professional experiences.”
Joseph said: “I’ve been able to use the bursary to buy food which has taken a huge weight off my shoulders as I don’t have to work while at university and, considering the high workload, this has been truly invaluable. I would urge anyone thinking of applying for the bursary to do so, as the opportunities offered by having this MSG sponsorship are not something you come across often.”
