Lawyers from Appleby’s Bermuda, Cayman Islands and Jersey Private Client and Trust practices have received high rankings in the recently released 2021 High Net Worth Guide by Chambers Global.
Out of the five lawyers ranked, Partner and Group Head of Appleby’s Private Client and Trust practice, Carlos de Serpa Pimentel, achieved the highest Band 1 ranking and is described as a ‘superstar in the market’ and a ‘really exceptional lawyer’, with one interviewee stating that ‘the Cayman Islands is lucky to have such a prominent lawyer representing the jurisdiction’.
Other Appleby lawyers recognised in the rankings included Partner and Group Head of the practice in Bermuda, Vanessa Schrum, who was described as ‘a thoroughly sound practitioner,’ who is ‘responsive, helpful, authoritative and very effective’ and ‘always goes the extra mile for clients’, with one adding that she ‘will always have a loyal client following’.
Jersey Partners Fraser Robertson and David Dorgan were also ranked in the Guide, with commentators praising David as ‘a good man and solid on the non-contentious side’, ‘smart’ and ‘good to deal with’, and Fraser as a ‘brilliant trusts litigator who knows his stuff’ with a ‘stellar reputation’, adding that he is ‘well versed in legal matters and knows his way around big trust matters’.
Cayman Senior Associate Esmond Brown was listed as an ‘associate to watch’, with one market expert saying that he is ‘incredibly knowledgeable and helpful and always looking to find the best solutions for his clients’, and adding that ‘his written work is excellent and always delivered in a very timely manner’.
In the Guide the firm is highlighted as a ‘fantastic organisation’ that acts as ‘protectors and administration advisors on trusts’, giving ‘consistent advice and service’.
