At the Company’s Annual General Meeting of shareholders, it was announced that James Lancaster will step down from his role as Managing Director of Alderney Electricity at the end of this year.
James (pictured) has been Managing Director of Alderney Electricity Limited (AEL) for 10 years and has been responsible for steering the Company through a period of significant change, including a major upgrade to the distribution grid, rebuilding the power station and modernisation of the power system in preparation for grid scale renewable energy.
Company Chairman Matt Birmingham said: “James has been a huge asset to the business over the last 10 years and both the Company and the island owe him a huge debt of gratitude for his work in improving the islands electrical infrastructure. He will be sorely missed”.
James Lancaster added: “The AEL team have transformed the fortunes of the Company over the last decade. I am enormously proud of them and what we have achieved. We have uprated all our systems providing better service for the Alderney Community and delivering a safe, modern and stable electricity network.
“We are embarking on a journey to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and transitioning towards a truly sustainable energy future. We have laid the foundations, but the full journey may take decades. The Board and I agree that now is the time to hand over to the next generation.”
