Organisers of the much-loved Guernsey Battle of Britain Air Display are hopeful that the event can take place as planned on 10 September. The Air Display team is working with the States of Guernsey and Public Health to ensure this can be achieved safely within the current restrictions.
This update comes after the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team successfully completed an annual assessment, known as the Public Display Authority (PDA), last week. Attaining the status, which involves detailed scrutiny of activity both in the air and on the ground, means the Red Arrows are deemed to have a show that is safe, presentable and representing the best of British.
The organising team has been delighted with the response from existing Consortium members and Corporate Friends who have confirmed they will continue to support the Air Display this year.
“This year, more than ever, we hope that businesses and individuals will support the Air Display to allow us to put on a wonderful show for the Guernsey community,” said Natalie Davidson from the organising team at Black Vanilla. “You can get involved as an individual Friend for just £15, become a Corporate Friend for £595 or a Consortium member from £1,950. Every membership counts”.
Barry Neal, Flying Display Director, said: “As you will imagine, planning for this year’s Air Display has been rather challenging as we have had to monitor the situation in both the UK and Guernsey and ensure we work within restrictions which are changing all the time. The Red Arrows being awarded their PDA last week is a big tick in the box and we hope to be able to release more information at the end of July”.
